The Age of Knowing

How is it possible for humans to "know?" How do we perceive things in our every day life as
"objects?" This course will explore cutting edge theories about the role of information theory in
modern quantum physics and complementary medicine. A psychologist will join the instructor, a
computer scientist, in discussions of ways their two disciplines are integrated. Diverse class
topics and readings will include how memory is influenced by emotion; information theory as
related to the reality of subjective experience; the limits of classical computing and the possibility
that humans are biological quantum computers.
